IG Markets Introduction and Rebates Overview

Recently Updated: 2025/08/01  |  CashbackIsland

IG-Markets

Cashback Island provides rebate services for IG Markets clients.

As an IB (Introducing Broker), Cashback Island introduces clients to IG Markets. IG Markets then compensates the IB based on the client’s trading volume, and the IB shares that compensation proportionally with the client, this is known as a rebate.

Every time a client trades using an IG Markets trading account opened through Cashback Island, the client receives a rebate.

The process to open a rebate account is the same as opening a regular account, just complete a simple user registration!

Use our rebate service to save on your overseas forex trading costs!

IG Markets Rebate Overview

The IG Markets rebate program offers rebates of up to $3.12. If a client meets a certain trading volume threshold, higher-tier rebate rates may be negotiated, effectively lowering overall trading costs.

Users who register through the exclusive link will not only enjoy rebate benefits but will also face no additional trading costs beyond official rates (including spreads, commissions, etc.). This mechanism ensures that investors receive extra returns without any deviation from the official trading environment.

Below are the rebate rates for various trading instruments on IG Markets.

High-Volume Trading Rebate

IG Markets offers a high-volume trading rebate program for frequent traders. When trading volume reaches a specified threshold, traders can receive rebates based on spreads or commissions.

This program applies to asset classes such as forex, indices, stock CFDs, and commodities, providing active traders with greater rewards.

To qualify for the rebate, traders must meet the minimum trading volume requirement within a calendar month.

Rebate tiers apply across all asset classes. When a client reaches a higher tier in any one asset class, the same rebate level will be applied to other asset classes.

For example, if a client reaches Tier 3 through forex trading, the same tier will apply to indices, stock CFDs, and commodities.

 Rebate Calculation Examples

Example A: Forex

  • Trading Volume: Notional trading value of USD 300 million in the current month
  • Applicable Rebate Tier: Tier 3 (USD 10 rebate per USD 1 million traded)
  • Rebate Amount: 300 × 10 = USD 3,000
  • Rebate Ratio: If the average spread for GBP/USD is 1 pip, the spread cost would be approximately USD 11,783, meaning the rebate covers about 25.46% of the spread cost

Example B: Indices

  • Trading Volume: Notional trading value of USD 35 million in the current month
  • Applicable Rebate Tier: Tier 3 applied to indices as well, since forex has already reached Tier 3
  • Rebate Amount: 35 × 7 = USD 245
  • Rebate Ratio: If the average spread for the US Tech 100 Index is 1 point, the spread cost would be approximately USD 1,190, meaning the rebate covers about 20.5% of the spread cost

Total Monthly Rebate = USD 3,000 (Forex) + USD 245 (Indices) = USD 3,245

Rebate Levels and Criteria

Asset Class Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3
Forex (Million USD) 25 ($5) 200 ($7) 300 ($10)
Indices (Million USD) 40 ($2) 100 ($5) 200 ($7)
Stock CFDs (Million USD) 1.5 (5%) 6 (10%) 10 (20%)
Commodities (Million USD) 5 ($5) 20 ($7) 30 ($9)

Please refer to our full terms and conditions for the required trading volume at each tier within each asset class.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is a margin call?

A margin call is a term used in the following situation: when the equity in a client’s account (the total deposited capital plus or minus all profits and losses) falls below the required margin. Clients can view this information at the top of the IG platform.

At this point, the system may automatically close the client’s positions to reduce the account’s margin requirement.

Clients can resolve this situation in two ways: by depositing sufficient funds to bring their equity above the required margin, or by closing positions to reduce the margin requirement. If clients need further assistance, please contact the dedicated support team at +61 (3) 9860 1776 for guidance.

Q2. How is overnight funding calculated?

If a client holds a short-term trading contract and wishes to keep it overnight, a daily interest charge will be applied.

*This fee is charged on any spot CFD positions held overnight (beyond 10pm UK time, although this may vary for international markets).

*For US stocks, the cutoff time is 8pm New York time from Monday to Thursday, and 10pm UK time on Friday.

Futures and forwards do not incur overnight funding fees, but they typically have wider spreads. These contracts are generally used for long-term trading.

Q3. What is the difference between stop and limit orders?

If a client wants to set a price better than the current market price for an order to open, a limit order must be placed. This type of order is only executed when the market price reaches or exceeds the specified limit. If a limit is attached as a take-profit level, the same logic applies, the position will only close when the price reaches or surpasses that limit level.

If the price the client attempts to trade at is less favorable than the current market price, it is considered a stop order. Once that price is breached, the client’s order will be executed at the available market price, regardless of what that price is at the time. As a result, the order might be filled at a worse level than the one requested. If a stop is attached to a position as an exit condition and is triggered, the stop order may be executed at a less favorable price.
